Every NRB currency row has a buy and a sell rate.
- Buy - the rate at which NRB indicates buying foreign currency (in NPR terms).
- Sell - the rate associated with selling foreign currency to the market.
For everyday intuition: when you are converting foreign currency into NPR to spend in Nepal, the sell side is often closer to what consumers watch - then your bank adds its own margin.
Always compare the all-in NPR your recipient receives after fees, not only the headline rate on an app screen.
